Happy Summer Everybody,
It seems a lot of girls my son Donovan's age (29) are named Summer. What other names are seasons or months of the year?
I think that’s it... Not a very interesting way to start a blog, is it?
But this isn’t the blog - it hasn’t starrted yet. The new improved “Andy’s Life” blog-0-rama doesn’t officially start until SUNDAY June 1st. I am still in shakedown mode.
Today’s practice topic - Silly Cute Stuff
The InterWebz would not be what it is today if it weren’t for two things... Cute stuff (babies, puppies and kittens) and Pornography.
This is the family hour, so we’ll leave the latter for a better time slot. Today, we’ll stick to the second most influential item - Silly Cute Stuff. When I say Silly Cute Stuff or SCS I specifically mean babies, puppies and kittens. A day doesn’t go by where I don’t see a silly lol cat or a puppy with photoshopped eyes, or a baby making a clever remark way above their pay grade. To me it is just simply tacky. If I want my heartstrings pulled - I’ll do it myself - thank you.
Just as we all need love - both physical and spiritual, we all need SCS in our life. But REAL cute stuff, not virtual cuteness. The map is not the territory.
We need puppies, we need kittens,
and in the winter we need mittens
We need babies - it’s in our genes
But would we keep them
if they were ugly and mean.
I don’t think so. Good Bye life on this planet
Thank the Buddah this isn’t the case. God in their infinate wisdom made newborn things cute. God made babies puppies, kittens (basically the young of almost all species) cute because they are such a pain in the butt to take care of. If they weren’t cute their parents would think to heck with it and leave them behind. I know that sounds harsh and cruel but so is nursing 9 puppies 12 times a day. Or changing a diaper a 2 in the morning. Babies are cute because of evolution.
It might even run deeper than that. When a couple of human breeders meet and are attracted to each other the first words usually out of their mouths or “he’s cute or she’s so good looking.” Maybe it’s a signal that their babies would also be cute, and have a better chance of living past infancy.
I’m sure this is not an original idea. It’s too obvious to be overlooked. Grants have been awarded and I’m sure many scientists have spent their whole career studying this fact of life.
My mid-night ramblings are not backed by private or government funding, they are just that - mid-night ramblings. They are only kept alive by your enjoyment of their cuteness. If you stop thinking them cute, fun to be with, and smell good. They’ll be put in a burlap sack, along with a few bricks and thrown into the river.
So this is my promise to you - Phase two of the Blog-0-Matic ( Andy’s Life) will be as cute as a bugs ear. And if you consider talking about parkinson’s disease and how I personally deal with it pornographic, then we’ll even have some of that.
ENOUGH PRACTICE - ALL DRESSED UP WITH SOMEWHERE TO GO
This is the last Test Blog so, hug your cute children and feed your cute pets, but love the older members of your family too, even if they are no longer cute. They might not be cute but they still have something to say. Cuteness might carry you through your youth, but wisdom - hard work - honesty and plain ol’ smarts will have to pick you up and carry you the rest of the way home.
See you Sunday, June 1st.
just say yes!
meet Andy Ward King, a professional musician and artist until a diagnosis of parkinons dsease at age 49 forced him into an early retirement., he now uses his music, his art along with the whimsical world he has created in this blog as therapy to ( as he puts it ) outsmart his brain and make the daily battles with parkinson’s a little bit easier, to give him that all important reason to get up on the morning, to make his life worth living. Andy has learned how to say NO to gving up \ NO to depression and apathy \ NO to following willingly the road of decline that stretches before him. he learned that to say no to all of these things all one has to do is say yes. Andy has learned to just say YES to life/\\
